About ACFSA

Introduction
The Association of Correctional Food Service Affiliates (ACFSA) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the professional growth of our many nation's correctional foodservice employees.

ACFSA was formed in 1969 to enhance, represent and promote the correctional segment of the foodservice industry. Association members are foodservice professionals employed in correctional facilities and agencies within federal, state and municipal prison/jail systems. Members are employed within government and commercially operated facilities within the United States, Canada and an expanding international market.

Mission
Develop and promote educational programs and networking activities to improve professionalism and provide an opportunity for broadening knowledge.

Structure
The governing body of the Association is the Board of Directors. The Board is the final authority on all matters pertaining to the management of the Association. It sets the policies for the Association and relies upon elected officers, staff, and committees to implement those policies. The Board is ultimately accountable to the membership of the Association.

The Executive Director is the primary operations manager of the Association. He or she has the authority to manage the business affairs of the Association, and to carry out policy as established by the Board of Directors under the guidance of the President.

The real driving force behind the steady growth of the ACFSA is its members. Their willingness to contribute articles to Insider magazine and participate in training programs at regional and national conferences is vital to the success of the Association and its mission.
